Mindfulness in Art Therapy through Mandala and Labyrinth work

At Eastern Virginia Medical School , Norfolk Va
In this workshop participants will create personal mandalas and clay finger labyrinths, learning how to integrate these sacred circles as psychotherapy and meditation tools to heal emotional trauma, manage grief and pain, reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and find inner peace. Focus is on a subliminal, metaphorical, unified process to work with clients in both clinical settings and in self-healing and mindfulness practice.

Seeking Art Therapist to work with Child with Autism

Working With 11 Year Old Boy With Autism 3-6 Hours/Week In Home Fairfax, VA 22032
Starting on Jan 26, 2012 (Thursday)
Working with Child with Autism on IEP goals, playtime, etc.
Looking for good fit to work with 11-year-old son with regressive, non-verbal autism in-home as ABA and Play Partner/Coach. Child is a student in the Autism Program.
Our home is located minutes from George Mason Univ. Main Campus in Fairfax, VA. Sessions will occur in basement that is fully equipped with swings, trampoline, work area, etc.
Responsibilities include:
* Working on academic skills/IEP Goals
* Playing 1-1 with child/doing “Arts & Crafts”, etc.
* Engaging him in household activities & chores (with and without family)
* Going out into the community (with & without family).
* Having fun together!
Hours:
Part time; 3 hours on Sundays (flexible schedule within). Also possibility of more hours during summer.
About Family:
Child has high receptive with (currently) low expressive; is active, smart, seeks social interaction, and enjoys learning and being with energetic and enthusiastic people. Family may be in house or “out & about” when person is with child. Would appreciate/benefit from assistance in family interaction and play.
Requirements (Please only apply if qualified):
*Teaching and/or ABA experience specific to children with Autism (especially behavioral & with children with limited verbal) needed.
*Right candidate will be flexible, imaginative, organized and energetic. *Experience with (IPODS, IPAD) desired (but not required) to help assist in further developing means of communication for child.
This is a great opportunity to work in conjunction with staff/teachers of his “Blue Ribbon” Special Needs school.
Pay: Negotiable $18-20 (+) and related to experience.

Positions Open at the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault located in Fredericksburg, VA
- Program Assistant: part-time position to provide assistance with administration, grants management, information and resources and intervention services. Experience with office management, filing systems, data tracking systems, accounts receivable. The person must be organized, able to manage time effectively and task oriented.
- Medical billing associate: very part-time position to handle insurance filing and billing. Able to use specialized software.
- We also take art therapy interns across our intervention, prevention and education programs. We can provide supervision from both a licensed counselor and a board certified and registered art therapist.

On April 20th, RCASA in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Taskforce will host it’s first annual Teal Ribbon Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma. This conference will have a prevention track hosted by the Child Advocacy Taskforce and a clinical track hosted by the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault.
